General Dagalo Sworn In as President of Sudan’s Presidential Council
Nyala – Blue News
Lieutenant General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo was officially sworn in on Saturday, August 30, 2025, as President of the Presidential Council of the Republic of Sudan, taking the oath of office before Chief Justice Ramadan Ibrahim Shamaila in the capital city of Nyala, South Darfur State.
The 15-member Presidential Council, which includes regional governors, embodies the Sudan Founding Alliance’s vision of a decentralized system of governance aimed at ensuring wider representation and regional empowerment.
The inauguration was held in accordance with the 2025 Transitional Constitution of the Republic of Sudan, which officially repealed the 2019 Transitional Constitutional Document along with all prior laws, decrees, and decisions, marking a decisive political shift.
Under this new constitutional framework, the Transitional Peace Government has been entrusted with several key responsibilities: ending wars, securing a just and lasting peace, and laying the foundations of a new Sudanese state built on justice, equality, and unity.
With this swearing-in, Sudan embarks on a critical transitional phase, carrying the hopes of its people for peace, stability, and a renewed national identity.
