The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) negotiating team in Geneva, led by Brigadier General Omar Hamdan, engaged in critical discussions last night on the evolving situation in Sudan and strategies for achieving lasting peace and stability during separate high-level meetings with delegations from the African Union (AU) and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In their meeting with the AU delegation, led by Dr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas, chair of the AU High-Level Panel of the Resolution of the Conflict in Sudan (HLP-Sudan) and the AU high representative for silencing the guns, the RSF delegation expressed deep appreciation for regional and international efforts focused on fostering peace in Sudan.

The delegation stated that their participation in the Geneva negotiations initiated by the United States underscores the RSF’s genuine commitment to ending the conflict and alleviating the severe humanitarian suffering inflicted on the Sudanese people.

They also emphasized that the opposing party’s refusal to engage in ceasefire negotiations, coupled with their insistence on prolonging the hostilities despite significant battlefield losses, stems from the fragmented decision-making processes within their ranks and the former regime’s influence over the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), which is being exploited to serve the corrupt and radical agenda of the National Congress Party and terrorist Islamic Movement.

During their meeting with the Saudi Arabian delegation, led by Saudi Ambassador to Sudan Ali bin Hassan Jafar, the RSF delegation conveyed their profound gratitude for the kingdom’s unwavering efforts to promote peace and stability in Sudan.

The RSF delegation highlighted Saudi Arabia’s pivotal role in sponsoring the two rounds of negotiations in Jeddah, which set the stage for the ongoing Geneva talks, as well as their substantial humanitarian support to those affected by the conflict through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center.

They also reaffirmed the RSF’s steadfast commitment to ensuring the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need across the country
