DARFUR PEOPLE CONGREGATION IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
STATEMENT ON THE PARTICIPATION OF THE WAR CRIMINAL AND RAPIST ABDEL FATTAH AL-BURHAN IN THE MEETINGS OF THE UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSEMBLY
We, in the Darfur People Congregation in the United States of America, have read a statement issued by the so-called Sovereignty Council, confirming that their leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan left Port Sudan, heading to the United States, to take part in the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly in its seventy-ninth session. And accordingly, we clarify the following.
Firstly: The Republic of Sudan, since the October 25, 2021 coup led by al-Burhan in alliance with the Islamic brotherhoods against the democratic transition government, has been without a legitimate government, and therefore inviting anyone as a representative of Sudan is considered a leap over the hopes and aspirations of the Sudanese people and their glorious revolution.
Secondly: After the April 15th war that was ignited by the Sudanese Armed Forces commander in coordination with the Islamic Brotherhoods, the de facto government that came after the coup collapsed, and Sudan itself collapsed as a state too. Therefore, the international community, and particularly the United Nations, must work to help the Sudanese people by pressuring to stop the war, not rewarding those who ignited it.
Thirdly: Highly credible international media platforms recently published
documented videos proving the involvement of the General Al-Burhan in the crimes of raping a 16 years old girl leaving her pregnant in Central Darfur. Hence, a person involved in a such horrific crime suppose to be in the courts for trail rather than participating in international forums. We therefore call on all Sudanese residing in the US to denounce this visit, by addressing international institutions, and protesting in front of the headquarters of the United Nations General Assembly on September 26. To urge the free world to play its role towards the tragedy of the Sudanese, and to besiege and punish criminals like Al-Burhan, and pressure him to make a move towards peace negotiations
